Being a boat owner means being a dreamer. It is all about those dreams about the freedom of exploring, crossing oceans and having a good time and so on. But it also also about the dreams about improving one’s vessel.
And my plans for this years improvements are:
- install new winches
- install new rope clutches
- install new GPS and kook it up to the VHF
- install new toilet
- fix sink drain
- provide deck-through fixing for mast cabling
- install mosquito mesh for the head
- sort out engine noise by removing parts of the engine support
- and many little other jobs
You might call me a big dreamer but you will certainly call me an idiot if I tell you that I want to do this in 2-3 days, including normal working hours, plus driving around to get all the little bits that are usually missing. I spent yesterday 5 hours driving to get cables, wood, stainless steel screws etc. etc. After all I am on an island and about 1 hour from a shop.
But presto – I like a challenge!
Here some pics about my progress. Removing the main halyard winch and the rope clutches
You’re ever so brave!
