Fitting the fitting

P6280302smIt has been 40 years that the sink fitting lasted, but it gave up a few days ago.

This meant that we had some water in the bilge and under the oven. Initially we could not work out from where it came and I was worried that the sea-cock made problems as the area around the valve was wet. I did taste the water again and again to find out that it was not sea-water. Phew!

Having figured out that the sink fitting was the culprit, meant that we had to find a new one.

No small feat.

  • Off to Ramsmora where they did not have one. (2 hour+)
  • Phone call to a DIY store nearby – no luck.
  • Off to Watski at Vaxholm – nope. (2 1/2 hours)
  • Off to a hardware store nearby – again no. (1/2 hour)
  • Off to a DIY store – again failure (1 hour)
  • Bus to Taby Centrum (1 hour+)
  • YES we found a fitting fitting!!!
  • Back to the boat (1 hour +)
  • Make some distance rings and fit it (1 hour +)

BTW. It does not have a normal plug but operates on a mere push.
