Azure Blue

I was putting my attention towards the keel today. It had a lot of rust showing through the antifouling from last year and I decided to sand it down to the bare metal, apply some grounding paint and then paint the new antifouling on top. The keel weighs approx 2 tons and I am sure it will take a while until the rust has eaten the whole keel away but still a job worth doing.

I already bought the antifouling in Austria as there is no chandler here on Södra Ljüsterö. Since I could not remember the exact colour-name from last year, I did a guess-job when I ordered it online. It was blue, that part was obvious but was it Azure-Blue, Navy-Blue or just Blue. I went for the middle option and now have a two-colour underwater Akka. I am sure Akka like her new look.

It was not Azure Blue!

  1. That’s an impressively straight line between the navy blue and the azure. I think it looks smart!

    • Well, it was a nice afternoon, the sun was shining and I took my time painting a straight line on the keel that nobody will see for the next 3 months.
The joys of messing about on a boat!
