I have arrived in my “home-waters” again. It has been a fantastic journey, but it feels good to be back. Good timing too, as my friends will come next Tuesday to take-over Akka for a month.
The journey from Rödhamn was very boring to begin with, exciting in the middle and long during the end.
To begin with, there was no wind, so I had to motor 4 hours which was pretty very dull and I hate to do use the engine for long journeys. After all it is called sailing-boat. But at around midday the wind started to come and I could almost lay my way-point. It was good sailing as the wind picked up very quickly. After an hour it was 15-20 knots and Akka needed reefs in both sails. After an hour under reef, there was a sudden bang and the boom lifted up a bit. The anchor point for the main-sheet had broken and I decided to take the sails down the rest of the way. By this time, the wind was at 20 kts and we only made 3-4 kts with the engine against the wind. So Lidö became our next port-of-call. Pretty full but pretty sheltered.
