The genoa reefing played up yesterday. Actually, the skipper did, as he did not take care for the reefing line to be wound up tightly.
As we started in light winds that would not have mattered but it got a little stronger during the day and the loose reefing line got tangled up in the drum. When it became time to take the sails in, a little panic set in. In the end I sailed to the lee of Granholm and took the genoa down as a whole.
Lesson learned – make sure to keep the reefing line tight when unfurling the genoa!
