Sailing in the southern archipelago has been an eye-opener to us. We know the Stockholm archipelago (Arholma to Landsort) now pretty well and love it. Sailing in the isles further south is different. It feels there are even more islands, more anchor bays to choose from, more to explore. The islands are higher and offer excellent protection. The distance between the inner islands and the outer skerries is much shorter and you can quickly nip in or out. There is less built-up area and little infrastructure to stock up on food, water or electricity, so you have to plan a little bit more ahead. Having spent now 2 weeks down here, we have the impression to only got a glimpse at the possibilities. We are looking forward to coming again.
