It is always exciting to approach a new harbour and it is even more exciting to do it in a busy ferry harbour like Tallinn. Huge “Gemeindebauten” (Ships the size of tower blocks) come and go and you have to wait your turn to enter the harbour. Apparently there are traffic lights telling the recreational skipper what to da but yours truly could not find them. A few telephone calls sorted the situation and we reached our destination Tallinn.
Wolfgang very kindly did not mention that I was seasick on the crossing. It was my first experience of the “the big sea”, because otherwise we’ve always sailed inside the archipelago or hugged the shoreline, and it took only one trip below decks to have me clutching the bucket and wondering how the hell I was going to survive another six hours of this. By mutual consent, we have abandoned the plan of sailing to Gotland and will return via the Alands instead. To be honest, I’m rather dreading even that crossing…
Not a happy camper in spite of the view of Tallinn!
