It is called on-the-hard when a boat is laid up on land and Akka is on the hard again for the next 8 months. All went well lifting her out and since the weather is still fine I have plenty of time to tidy up and to cover her for the winter.
The guys from Ramsmora also had a look at the engine and their conclusion is:
- White smoke due to some dodgy fuel
- Engine knocking at low revs: A feature of that Volvo Penta model
- Intermittent noise: Engine knocking against the mounting blocks due to aged rubber pads
Excellent news and more reason to be happy and proud of Akka.
Akka will spend the winter next to a Marieholm, almost identical in shape and size to a Nordic Folkboat. It just shows how small the Folkboats and the thought of 3 months in a Folkboat is a scary one.
