We had a terribly start to the summer. The whole of June and July was cold and maybe 5 summer-days showed what is possible.
But since the beginning of August the summer has arrived and, by the looks of it, is here to stay. Blue-skies, hot sun, cool shade – ideal conditions and I am so glad that I missed the Austrian heat-wave and managed to find a cool spot up here in Scandinavia.
The odd thing is that the heat is only felt when in the sun. As soon as you are in the shade it is pleasantly cool and once a little breeze comes up a T-shirt or jumper is needed. Ideal when moored but a clothing-challenge when sailing as the shade comes and goes with every tack.
