Oop North

Northwards! We’ve never been outside the Stockholm archipelago before (apart from our brief trip to the Alands in the folk boat) but it turns out the archipelago just keeps on going, even when it no longer belongs to Stockholm. We’re a good 40 sea miles north of Arholma – a great day’s sailing because the promised rain held off and the wind was less northerly than we had feared so we didn’t have to tack – staying the night at the harbour in the little town of Öregrund. Wolfgang has had a shower -bloody luxury,eh? I’m saving mine for tomorrow morning – and after a hearty meal, we’re about to hit the sack. Öregrund looks very charming but neither of us has the energy left to go exploring. We did manage to hit the supermarket, though, so food is sorted for the next few days. Tomorrow Wolfgang has a conference call at 2 so we’ll have to see how far we can get before then – not much wind according to the forecast, so probably not very far. But it feels now as if Höga Kusten is within striking distance – another day like today and we could make it in one dygn (Swedish for one day and one night).
