Last year we had a problem with the seacock that lets the waste from the septic tank out into the sea. After lots of huffing and puffing, I got it to work and all was well. This year it was stuck again and in order to avoid the huffing and puffing, I thought I’d take the hose off and add some WD40 to get the valve loose again. Great idea, but I broke off the nipple for the hose!
Now the huffing and puffing started in earnest! I could not disassemble the whole assembly of through-hull fitting, seacock, 90 degree bend and nipple for the hose. I tried for 6 hours and then decided to call in the pros. Stefan from Ramsmora varv came to the rescue. We took off the whole thing and replaced it with a shiny new set. Later today we will see if it installed OK and if the ocean stays out.
