Visibility – poor

We left Tallinn at 8am in wonderful sunshine and no wind at all. An hour later some wind set in and we set sail with course for Tallinn. At 09:30 some very thick fog set in and the  visibility was down to less than 100 meteres (some say it was closer). We packed out the fog-horn and did our long-short-short every 2 minutes but the fun started when we heard some big-fuckers (the huge cruising ships) in the distance sounding their horns. This was still all good until another fucker came closer and we could hear the horn signal getting louder and louder. I could see on the GPS the AIS signal and was surprised to see her cut through the traffic separation zone at 21 knots. We had already altered course to stay clear of her but it was a “special moment” to hear the diesel engines go pass at a distance of less than 400 meters. We could not see anything of her at all. Spooky stuff.
