Kayaking on Fejan

We wanted to try out kayaking for a long time. So we went to Fejan to hire one and to give it a go.

We got the instructions, the kit and had our water and chocolate strapped in and started with a little trepidation. But the thing is much more stable than we thought it would be and soon we were skimming along the Baltic.

We had great fun exploring little nooks and crannies, something a sailboat is not very good at.

As there was quite a strong wind it was actually very easy to skim along though the Baltic – as long as you go with the wind. We soon had to learn the hard lesson, that going against the wind in a kayak is very hard work indeed. We had to cross a stretch of water that was pretty open to the wind. It was only about 500 – 700 meteres and it took us a good while to go very sloooowly. Victoria got a good soaking sitting in the front but it was good fun anyway.

After 2 1/2 hours we returned with tired arms but big grins on our face.

Help, look at that navigator!
