After our kayaking trip we decided to go to Granhamn, just around the corner from Fejan. There was a heavy wind going from south-east and even with the engine going at full speed we only made 2-3 knots. But the little sheltered natural harbour at Granhamn was only 20 minutes away and a barbecue was on the menu for tonight.
Granhamn has been used by mariners for a very long time. Here they waited for good winds to take them across to Finland. Since there was a tavern on the island, my guess is that wind had to be just-right.
The sailors spent the time waiting chiseling their names and their boat names into the granit. You can see some engravings that date back to the 17th century. We also left our sign, but decided it was much easier to do it in the sand rather than the granit.
