After 4 weeks of remote islands we needed some holiday from the tranquility.
Our crossing over from Rödhamn was so fast that we had enough time to head all the way for Norrtälje. Norrtälje is a small town that has shops, supermarkets, hairdresser, petrol stations with Swedish gas bottles, a boat chandler and a good bus connection to Stockholm. Ideal for us. Norrtälje has also vastly improved since they tore down the huge grain silos right at the entry to the town to make space for some housing development. The town is lovely and has lots of old wooden houses and a small river flowing through it and has a charming holiday atmosphere.
We re-stocked Akka with food and walked the rather long distance to the guesthamn 3 times. We also took the bus to Stockholm where we went to the Fotografiska Museet to see an exhibition on horses. After that we wanted to eat at a veggie restaurant that Victoria found online but after 1 1/2 hours of trying to find it we discovered that it had shut down. A little bit of shopping followed our lunch in a Chinese dumpling restaurant and our craving for civilization was stilled and we headed back home.
