A fantastic sail from Högsåra to Nagu.
Quite a bit of wind was coming from west to south-west and we let Akka run. She had the second reef in the main and according to the course, I not only trimmed the genoa but also reefed it, approx. 15 times during the day. We certainly were the only boat with main and genoa out, but then we also were one of the fastest boats out.
What I don’t understand however is how she could going for hours over her theoretical hull speed. Akka’s waterline ist 26 feet and according to the clever formula
this should allow me a max boat speed of 6,8 knots. However we were cruising over 7 knots for hours. How?
