We currently have a very handy north-westerly that is blowing us to our goal Helsinki. Perfect wind conditions, the temperature could be improved by a few degrees though. At night the temperature drops to 13 degrees and climbs an amazing 3 degrees during the day. I am so glad we are reaching at the moment as beating into this cold wind would not be any fun at all.
Akka is loving it though. What amazes me is the fact that she sails so well in these conditions only with a reefed genoa. Even when we have to beat into the wind she goes like the clappers. The last couple of days we had 5-6 Bft, mostly from behind. We averaged over 5 knots, only with the reefed genoa – Fantastic!
