New guests on Akka! Inge and Bernhard arrived the day before yesterday and it seems that they brought good weather with them! After an evening in Vaxholm (sadly the Kaffeekuchenhaus was already closed) we set sail yesterday morning for Gällnö – in sunshine.
So, straight after our arrival we naturally went to the Handelsbod for a coffee cake. It was already closed (Sunday 4pm) but as a brief summer downpour occurred the guy at the counter was nice enough to allow us to shelter and later even sold as a coffee and cake. Inge was particularly taken by the toilet facilities.
It cleared up very quickly and we went for a walk to the Russian oven on Gällnö, a remainder of the Russian invasion in the 18th century. Basically it is a pile of rocks with signs pointing towards it and apart from the historic value not that impressive.
The walk took us through the beautiful forest and along the shore-line. We were out for over 2 hours and returned to a well-deserved sun-downer!
The toilet on Gällnö must be one of the most luxurious in the entire archipelago – it even has hand disinfectant, not to mention those magnificent album covers. Speaking of toilets, did you manage to fix your pump?
