Although it has been a big adventure sailing on the Big Sea, I have to admit I’m really happy to be back in the Schären. It helps that the sun is shining, but even dripping wet and foggy the little islands look enchanting. They’re so close to each other! The sea looks like lots of little rivers! We made it down from Öregrund – packed with Swedes having a good time, including a singer in a bar covering Tracy Chapman’s Talking About A Revolution – to Arholma at a cracking pace with a following wind, but the tiny harbour seemed to be even fuller than Öregrund, with boats free anchoring everywhere. We took ourselves off and found a quiet bay around the corner, too shallow near the shore to park on the rocks but the ideal depth for free anchoring. We had supper here all by ourselves but are even now being joined by a second boat. It’s hard to find solitude in the Schären in July!
