I left relatively late today as I was only planning to go to Björkskär which is about 6-7 miles further south. It was an easy single tack and I arrived after about 2 hours. I found a nice spot facing south (forecast is that the wind will be from the south for the next few days) and moored against a rock – very nice thank you. But I noticed that the anchor was dragging and since the forecast was very little wind from the south I debated with myself whether I should re-set the anchor. You see all not so easy when you are on your own but the guy with the pension scheme won over the adventurer and I decided to re-set it. No sooner had I cleared everything away did I notice some black clouds, the wind was also turning towards west – very black and very west. To be on the safe side I brought out a spare line and fixed it further upwind, as I was concerned that it might pipe up. And it did! The boat next to me measured between 6 Bft and 7 Bft and all the boats started to scramble to bring out more lines. There was one fellow sailor whose anchor dragged and we took it in turns to hold his boat off the rock while he and his wife rowed out to re-set the anchor – very dramatic stuff.
Here some pics from Akka with maybe a tad too many lines 🙂
After 1 hour the whole shebang was over and I went for a swim as the wind and rain has also cleared the sea from the algae.
