Been busy

After our uncertainties about the white smoke, we asked at the Hamnkontor (harbour office) if they can recommend somebody to help us with the engine. We were given the telephone number of a “Mikke” and I called him a little bit later. As he was busy at the time he said he would call back and I got worried not knowing how long to wait for his return call. But sure enough, there was a knock on the boat within 20 minutes and Mikke was there – a force of nature.

He looked at the engine, asked a few questions and thought that the most probable cause for the white smoke was water in the diesel. I showed him my primary diesel filter (still in the box – no time to install it) and he recommended one with a glass bowl to inspect the water that gets separated from the diesel. He promised to get one for me and said he would deliver it in the evening. He arrived at 8pm, still full of beans, and I installed the thing the next day. It seems that the white smoke has decreased (not totally gone).

I also finally managed to sort out the batteries. They were just sitting loose in 2 boxes and were rattling around with every tack. Here a before and after:
