Stockholm

Yesterday we headed into Stockholm to pick up my mum. Wolfgang had hoped to sail in in grand style and do a lap of honour in front of the royal palace, but there wasn’t much wind and we had to motor in the last stretch. The really tricky part was getting into our berth, though – the boats were squidged in so tightly, we could only wriggle into place by shifting the fenders and tugging ourselves in manually inch by inch. It was a beautiful day, though, and in the evening we took mum for a long walk past all the best bits of Stockholm and introduced her to the joy of  a marine toilet. Today we headed back out into the islands and are now parked up against a rock that rises so steeply out of the sea that the anchor line goes more or less straight down. It would be perfect for diving if the water were warmer, but it’s too cold for anyone but Finns to even dip their toes in.

Sightseeing in Stockholm, Oma rambling on Grinda, and the sky on the way into Stockholm (it looked more impressive on wide screen)
