6 tries to anchor – no Swede was impressed

Today I made a fool of myself anchoring. I went to Lidö, which is about 10 miles east of Norrtälje. The weather is about to change and tomorrow the wind should come from the north, perfect for going to Finham to meet my Finnish friends. Since there is a 3 Bft wind forecast for the night , I wanted to make sure that the anchor is properly set. As I mentioned before, the anchorband is too short, so I am using the 40m Anchor line.

  • First try – anchor slipped (probably too short line)
  • Second try – anchor slipped (lost of weed that I picked up)
  • Third try – anchor line too short
  • Fourth try – anchor slipped (lots of weed again)
  • Fifth try – line too short – anchor slipped
  • Sixth try – I gave up mooring against the rock and am anchoring in the middle of the bay with 30 meters line out.

And this is where I am right now.

Must dash now and finish the holding tank. Since I am anchoring in the middle of the bay, and the loo (“head” in seaman-speak) is dismantled, I better get going to finish the head 🙂
